The 15th International Arts Festival in Kanagawa will be held over a period of two months from April 19 to June 22, and will feature eight different events including opera, ballet, dance, orchestra and chamber music.
The following performances will be held at the Kanagawa Kenmin Hall's Large Hall, a venue that boasts one of Japan's leading large-scale stage mechanisms: the romantic ballet "La Fille du Danube" by the Tokyo Ballet; the Fujiwara Opera's "La Traviata" featuring luxurious sets and costumes; and contemporary dance by the Deborah Colker Dance Company, an acclaimed Brazilian group who will be giving their first performance in Japan. Chamber music and pipe-organ concerts that bring a new dimension to the music scene will be held in the Small Hall.
Three events rich in personality and individuality will be held at the Kanagawa Kenritsu Ongakudo, a venue which has received high acclaim for its superior acoustics: a collaborative performance between jazz pianist Yosuke Yamashita and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, a performance by the Alban Berg Quartet who are on their last tour, and an immeasurably satisfying performance of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" by the baroque ensemble "La Petite Bande".
I hope that you will join us at this spring arts festival in Kanagawa where you will be able to enjoy a rich variety of stage performances in a single swoop.
